After a long day of travel, Momma and I are safe and sound at Aunt D and Uncle Todd's house in Pensacola. We'll be here for a few days and I think Aunt Kimi is going to drive over from Destin on Saturday to visit for a few hours also!
I had a physical therapy evaluation today. I did awesome! Basically I'm on the physical developmental level of a 6 month old (I'm 7.5 months). She was very impressed with how strong I am! Hypotonia (low muscle tone) is something people with DS have, and we keep hearing that my muscle tone is on the high side of low. The PT today worded it differently. She told me that my muscle tone is within the range of normal, just on the low end. I guess it's just a differnt way of wording the same thing. Bottom line: I'm doing awesome! She sent Momma home with exercises to work on with Ms Amy, my early intervention teacher (who comes once a week). and she really didn't think she needed to see me again for a couple months. Momma pushed it a little and asked to come back in a month. We want to make sure we stay on top of this!
My new trick is grabbing my feet! I love to reach up and grab my toes now. I especially love to do this on the changing table as soon as Momma (or Daddy) take my pants off. Mrs. Shannon (my new PT) said that this is a skill that helps me with sitting up.
I'm getting stronger and stronger each day!
(haha!! Momma's been watching too much Gossip Girl!)
This morning, Momma and Daddy and I went down to Columbia for a play date with some other children who have Down syndrome. They were all a little older than me, but Daddy and Momma enjoyed getting to know them and their families! We stayed and visited for about an hour and a half then we went to Publix on our way back home.
Momma ran back out soon after we got home because she had some Kohls cash she HAD to spend today or it would expire. After she got back home, "Aunt" Lauren and "Uncle" Dustin came over to hang out and eat with us. Daddy made some yummy chilli and he grilled (baked) some oysters for us as an appetizer. Well, I didn't get to eat the oysters and chilli, but all of the grown-ups said the food was yummy.
Soon after dinner, Lauren and Dustin had to go home and I had to take a bath. I was so worn out from my big day that I fell asleep half-way through my bottle! Momma hopes I sleep through the night (without waking up hungry).
